The story of Indha goes back to 1996, when a Foundation called Literacy India was established as a non-for profit organization, with the objective of empowering underprivileged children and women and making them self-sufficient. Indha was born out of Literacy India, – aimed at developing the skills for artisans, a diminishing art form with the evolution of modern technologies. In 2004, production centres were set up in the villages of Daulatabad, Sarai and Bajghera to facilitate them in supporting themselves. Unlike private companies in the handicraft sector that align themselves with skilled workers, as an organization, Literacy India and Indha, invest in the training of artisans and in ensuring their well being by providing higher wages, medical benefits, financial education and good work conditions.

EcoKaari is a social enterprise born from an ardent desire of the team to create a community where bottom-up development is the key to achieving better living for all beings in a sustainable way. ‘Eco’ means Eco-friendly, and ‘Kaari’ means Kaarigar (Artisan). Our name represents the relationship between Artisans and Environment, and they both are interconnected and interdependent. EcoKaari upcycles waste plastic into beautiful handcrafted fabrics using Charkha (spindle) and Handloom. These fabrics are handwoven by women and youth who belong to humble backgrounds. We aim to innovate and present sustainable alternatives by pairing traditional Indian crafts with our upcycled-handwoven fabrics with contemporary designs.

Use Me Works is a group of women who support each other in every possible manner and aim to make a change for a better life and a healthy planet. Most of these women come from conservative families where women are restricted to go out of their homes. Each member at Use Me Works has been trained and their journey is reflected through the improvement in the quality of the products we are producing. Today, our customers vouch for our products' uniqueness and functionality. We now have a mix of handcrafters and machine artisans.
